Strange Culture's First Blogaversary

Today is my blogaversary. So have a piece of blogaversary cake and reminisce with me.

January 17th, 2006 I began this blog with a collection of silly posts that started this blog off...at that time I knew nothing about blogging, but I knew that I liked it.

My personal favorite post are different than my most visited posts. When I go to statcounter and see my site traffic the most popular posts are:

Dakota Fanning's Controversial Content in Hounddog (July 21, 2006)
Reactions to A Nude Daniel Radcliffe (August 14, 2006)

Apparently the idea of Dakota Fanning and Daniel Radcliffe in controversial roles where they may or may not appear naked is incredibly interesting to world wide web searchers.

I also get a number of hits for people who land on this post: Unique Cartoons from my 1980s Childhood (July 8, 2006). Apparently, I'm not the only one who remembers the Paw Paw Bears and the Wuzzles.

But today I will celebrate my linking to my favorite Strange Culture post in year 1 (there have been 358 posts this year to choose from).

Maybe you have a favorite post? Or maybe you came to the blogaversary party uninvited...that's okay too...feel free to hang out at Strange Culture and have some cake.

  1. Congratulations on your one year blogiversary! I truly enjoy reading your thoughts and I often add movies to my netflix queue simply by seeing them written about here.

With regard to your favorite posts: I firmly believe "Gilead" is a book every parishioner should read. Wonderful.

  2. Congrats. I remember that cartoon post well. Were the Snorks on that list?

And I too have added a Netflix pick or two from your blog. Keep it up.

  4. The Gilead post is my favorite. Okay, I'll be honest, I haven't read all of them (you post like ninety-eight one hundredths of a post a day). I just remember that one because I had read it before you posted on it, which makes me feel just a little bit cultured.

Now you should read Believers by Jeffery Sheler, if you haven't already. This is a book that has bearing on your life and chosen profession, as it does mine.

  6. Happy Blogaversary! I liked the Gilead post so much, I bought the book for a friend and included a copy of your review in it, so she'd know why I bought it. I'll have to borrow it from her.

  7. Happy Blog Day RC! I can't believe it's been a year. Amazing. It seems like just yesterday I was telling a friend at Einstein's Bagel Co. about a new blog out there called "Stupid Culture" or something like that. Now I'd never make that mistake!!

  10. Happy Blogaversary! I'm glad I stumbled across this blog at some point in the past year. If you're like me, once you hit the one year mark you found yourself thinking "Hmmm... I guess I really AM going to keep doing this." It's great when someone's hobby enriches the lives of others, too.
