Biggest Media Opening Ever? Grand Theft Auto IV

In the first 7 days of release, Pirates of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest made over 196 million dollars, Spider Man 2 made over $192 million, Star Wars Episode III made over $191.
Would you believe there is a release coming out this April that is predicted to do over $400 million.

The format is different, but those numbers give some incredible perspective to the predicted sales in the first week for the video game Grand Theft Auto IV (available April 29th for Play Station and XBox 360).

According to Variety, Rockstar North/Take-Two Interactive's game Grand Theft Auto IV is predicted to have over $400 million in sales in it's first week...far bigger numbers than any other previous video game release has ever had.

The 9th game in the controversial Grand Theft Auto series with main character Niko Bellic, the angry, violent, European on a rampage in America, will certainly be played in homes across the globe for hours on end following it April 29th release.

It's pretty incredible to think about the game having a projected $400 million in sales the first week...those numbers are huge for any media genre, especially a mature audience video game.
