Fireball Island

When I was a kid, one of the Christmas presents I remember receiving was the 3D board game, Fireball Island.

I was thinking about it today, and trying to remember the rules and the concept (it involved getting the jewel at the top of hill, and having the ability in certain circumstances to fireball opponents, tokens to collect on the way, and bridges that created higher risk of doom if "fireballed."

I was trying to remember if Fireball Island was connected to any sort of pop culture, such a TV show, movie, or anything of that nature, but as far as I can tell it was a unique stand alone type of thing.

And then to my surprise, I found the game online -- people are selling it on amazon as a 1980s collectible for prices ranging from $220-400 found here: Milton Bradleys' Fireball Island adventure game.

Who would have known!

Anyways, I don't know why I'm thinking about it today, but there is a part of me that wants the game to come back into popularity, and who knows...maybe a Fireball Island movie!

Not sure how that got into my head today, but glad that I can share it here.

Does mom still have it? Did we sell it at a garage sale?

What a great trip down memory lane. This game was super cheesy unadulterated fun. I wish it was available at a better price point (come on game makers...reprint it).

I think it would also be great to see adventure movies of that ilk come out. We need more great adventure movies that are just outrageous and fun.

I've never heard of this game...Sounds like your parents are sitting on about $200 in their basement with this game :-)
