I don't think I was the only person a little shocked when it was announced that Ellen Barkin was the newest member of the Ocean's 13 cast a month ago...with Ocean's 11 and Ocean's 12 staring much stronger leading ladies (Julia Roberts & Catherine Zeta Jones) Barkin seemed like a little bit of a let down. (See my Ellen Barkin post here)
But who could have guess this? The amazing cast of Soderbergh's Ocean's 11 franchise just got super-sized. Al Pacino is joining the cast for this second sequel.
Pacino will be playing the part of Willie Banks, a Las Vegas hotel/casino owner. Digital Spy predicts this is where the George Clooney's gang will attempt their robbery.
Wow, pretty impressive. The picture above is from the movie Sea of Love, a 1989 film staring Ellen Barkin and Al Pacino (this is the film were Barkin got her 1st big break...could Oceans 13 bring her new notoriety?).

The Barkin choice was strange, but not as strange as her facial structure. The question now is: Will Garcia and Pacino channel their Godfather characters?
I hope this doesn't become a yearly franchise, I've loved the first two films, but if this ends up being a cutesy self-aware winking at the camera type of thing, I don't think I could stand it.
my bf has watch the godfather times & again. he said part 1 is the best, 2 & 3 are just okay. But i saw on the internet tat some reviews part 3 as the best part of the trilogy, touching & stylish. see comments: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0099674/
Al Pacino is an amazing actor, an all time favorite of time. I recently saw Dog Day Afternoon. Great movie.
Hmmm...she must be a girl's girl, because I think Ellen Barkin is amazing! In fact, I assumed everyone thought so. Oh well! You guys can go drool over some dime-a-dozen super-model with bland features, and I'll go watch Ellen in whatever she does...
I was just stopping by to say hello :-)
I will watch this movie when it comes out because of the open ending from Ocean's 12.
See ya

They should have just called it quits after 11. The first was fun, full of attitude and the joy of being cool people in Hollywood. In 12 they seemed to be going through the motions, just picking up the cheque. What will 13 bring us? More of the same I suspect.
I hear Clint Eastwood is going to be in Ocean's 14.
Looking forward to this next one. I like crime-capers, I liked the first two Oceans, now Pacino ... that's cool.
