Ted Haggard Needs to Go To Jesus Camp

How bizarre is this?

Two days ago I post on Jesus Camp and Becky Fisher closing down her Kids on Fire Camp in Devils Lake, North Dakota. In that post I mention and quote Ted Haggard.

Then today, I read that Ted Haggard, leader of the National Association of Evangelicals and pastor of the 14,000 member New Life Church in Colorado Springs, has stepped down as leader and pastor of these two organizations.

Is it because of Jesus Camp?

No, much worse. Ted Haggard has been accused on KHOW radio, in Denver, of regularly paying a man by the name of Mike Jones, 49, for gay sex.

Haggard is claiming that he has remained faithful to his wife, but is stepping down to cause minimal damage to his church and the National Association of Evangelicals.

forgive my inappropriateness (for i don't know nor could guess his innocence or guilt), but i just have to say:

Who?
Mike Jones!

Call me a cynic but the timing of this allegation seems mighty peculiar and downright convenient for the lefties too.

well I'm tired of this stepping down at the first sign of trouble in order to "save the organization from humilation and publicity"

Yeah guilty or not I think stepping down was a baaad idea. But especially if he isn't.

Good post about it over here http://teampyro.blogspot.com/2006/11/thoughts-on-todays-scandal.html

Well, the timing is clearly politically motivated. But that doesn't change the fact that he did it (if, in fact, he did). He's now admitted to buying drugs once. He says he didn't use them, but that seems to contradict one of the phone recordings which has him asking for more drugs. Most people who buy drugs and don't use them don't buy more.

He's admitted to "sexual immorality" now. So looks like he did it.

Wow. If these allegations are true, it’s an exceptionally striking case of hypocrisy.
