My First CD: The Simpsons Sing the Blues

Because of a certain movie that came out this weekend, I had a memory flash back to childhood.

I was in one of my final years of elementary school when I got my first CD.

Interestingly enough, for whatever it says about me or my childhood, it was The Simpsons Sing the Blues.

What does that say about me? Or my childhood? Yikes!

Wow...I never even knew that about you. What a contrast to my first CD; the soundtrack from Aladin. Knowing both of our families, isn't it interesting that my parents banned The Simpson's from our house, but your parents let this be your first CD. In fact, my Dad made us have a family meeting as soon as The Simpson's came out so that he could make it clear that The Simpson's would NEVER be allowed to run our our TV - He told us that it had as much class as "Married with Children" or "Roseanne," and he was most disturbed by Bart being disrespectful to Homer and he couldn't believe Bart called his dad by his first name. :-)

It says that you're much younger than I thought---that's entirely a non-judgmental remark.

My first CASSETTE TAPE was Petra's "Beat the System", although I do have the Simpson's "Sing the Blues" CD in my collection. I too, had a forbidden affair with the Simpsons. Parent's didn't approve.

CD's?? You are all infants. My first vinyl record was The Imperials...something about ".??. Priority". Ahem. Haven't felt the need to listen to THAT in about 25 years.

My first record, that I bought with my allowance, was The Beatles Again in 1976. (I was 6 for the record) Much of the material on that LP would make it on to Past Masters Volume Two. (Hey Jude. the alternate version of Revolution, Paperback Writer, etc)
the first cassettes I bought were U2's October and the Police's Synchronicity. I was given Van Halen's first album and U2's War when I was given my Walkman for my 13th birthday. I was also given the Rez Band album with the boot on it. It never received much play.
The first CDs I bought were in 1992 and I picked up The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonley Hearts Club Band and Soundgarden's Badmotorfinger.

Kimberly: I was in a Bible College when The Simpsons came out. I had a Bart shirt and took a tonne of flack for it, but I stood by the show. (and so did most of the students)

hmmmm, that is news to me. I don't remember that, I would have thought it would be a Sesame Street one, but now that I think about it, I thought it was MC Hammer!

My first CD was Belinda Carlisle's Runaway Horses (she's amazing). But I also own all the Simpsons albums.

Do the Bartman, indeed.
