W Movie Casting (in pictures)

I previously mentioned that Oliver Stone would be making a film called "W." about the George W. Bush (our current, and 43rd president of the United States). I also mentioned Josh Brolin would be playing Bush. And it hasn't taken that long to hear some more casting announcements. Without further ado...in pictorial form:

James Cromwell as George H.W. Bush & Ellen Burstyn as his wife, Barbara Bush.
Playing the part of George Bush's (Josh Brolin's) wife is Elizabeth Banks.

Bush's two secretary of state's...Colin Powell will be played by Jeffery Wright...

...and Condelezza Rice will be played by Thandie Newton.
Any thoughts on these casting choices?

It really just seems to one giant rouse, you know? Like Stone's just messing with us.

... but he's not ...

*cries in confusion and frustration*

um...

wow?

i'm not all into lookalike actors playing the parts. but shouldn't they have more than, say, similar skin color and the same gender in common?

Having just seen Thandie Newton in Run, Fat Boy, Run, this is kinda weird to me. But out of all the latest casting choices, I think she could be a good Condi. Who knows?

is that so wrong? said...

This seems like an awfully high-caliber cast. Particularly with Jeffrey Wright, Thandie Newton, and Ellen Burstyn.... I'm very interested to see what the spin will be on this film. Who knows what axe the write has to grind.... or Stone for that matter.

I guess I'm officially interested now, too.

It's gonna be weird feeling sexually attracted to the on-screen Condi Rice.

To me Laura Bush always looks like she spends her days completely whacked out on Xanax and red wine. Can Elizabeth Banks pulls that vacant look off?

I vote Phillip Seymour Hoffman as Karl Rove. And Mr. Smithers as Dick Cheney.
