Yes, that's Sufjan Stevens and I knew it without peeking! Love him and his tunes :) Too bad he doesn't tour much and it's been two years since he put out a new album. I don't think he's going to make it through all the states at this rate.
Sufjan Stevens has some stellar work. That Chicago song is good, but not as good as almost anything from his Seven Swans album.
i also really like seven swans. it's a bit more quirky (thanks to producer danielson) and not as polished as illinoise, but i'm not sure i like it better all told.
not sure if i heard of a third of these bands, including rock kills kid which apparently did a copy of a spoon song.
Nice list there. I would be interested in hearing what your favorite albums of the year so far are, and where you listen to your new music. I am a big fan of kexp.org.
I am still waiting for Sufjan's Washington disc.
It's good to know someone else knows about Stereophonics. I thought "I turn my camera on" was by spoon. Did Rock Kill Kid cover it?
What I'd really love is a download link so that I could actually hear all these songs you're praising.
Also, here are ten songs that I'm digging this week:
1. Crown City Rockers - Another Day
2. She & Him - Change is Hard
3. Jay-Z - Jockin' Jay-Z
4. Aberdeen City - Pretty Pet
5. Freezepop - Less Talk More Rock
6. Ocean Colour Scene - You'll Never Find Me
7. The Coral - Dreaming of You
8. Kidz in the Hall - Drivin' Down the Block (West Coast Remix)
9. The Zutons - Dirty Rat
10. The Hot Toddies - HTML
Will be looking these up on iTunes. Thanks! Love being introduced to new music
