Underestimating The Next Three Days?

First of all the picture above is the first still of the film The Next Three Days. Honestly it has to be one of the strangest publicity stills ever for a movie, and sort of gives you a low budget feel, with it's it less than striking long shot.

But if your first exposure was to the film poster (right) you might think, woah, why haven't I heard of this new Russell Crowe film, it's picture reminds me of the Bourne Identity meets A Beautiful Mind.

Despite the fact that this is written and directed by Paul Haggis (who won two Oscars for his writing and directing of Crash) the film is not getting award buzz yet, but the film looks like it could really be one of the most enjoyable fan-favorite films of the year.

The story about a man (Russell Crowe) who's wife (Elizabeth Banks) is accused of a crime, and Russell Crowe's belief in her innocents but lack of help from the justice system leads him to break her out of jail, which sends them on an interesting journey.

This film, is based on the 2008 French film Pour Elle (Anything For Her), which stared Vincent Lindon and Diane Kruger.

The film is set for release mid-November release and honestly I have high hopes for this film...mostly that it will be one of those enjoyable films people go to see and enjoy seeing.

As for it's award shots...who knows, I suppose it's possible in a film season that still has a lot of wild cards, but I'm just hoping that this film is an enjoyable popcorn film.
