I feel like it always skews a little heavy towards genre films. Films like The Dark Knight is probably over-rated at number 6 of all time. I always thing there's a high number of anime films on the list. I always kind of assume genre films (whether it's sci-fi, foregin films, action films, silent films, westerns, etc.) will get some over representation since people uninterested in these genre's aren't throwing their votes into the pot. But that's okay with me because these films are probably under represented from their fan base, and this is a great place to try to capture the best of the best and mix them all together/
All that said, it's great because it's current - often capturing "new classics" very quickly. For example, the list currently has two films from 2013, Gravity and Rush. The list quickly captures the potential for these films to become modern favorites.
I reviewed the list this morning to see with the current list which ones I haven't seen, and potentially should add to my should watch list.
I have seen 188 of the 250 current imbd.com top films.

111. For a Few Dollars More - Not as good as The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly but still fun.
115. The Great Escape - Steve McQueen on a motorcycle as the Soldier who keeps getting caught, James Garner as the cool American and tunneling, what's not to love?
137. The Deer Hunter You've seen scenes from this movie hundreds of times, you just didn't know they came from this movie. Stars Robert Dinero, Christopher Walken (actually acting) and Meryl Streep. Shows the family before Vietnam and then the plight of the postwar Vietnam veteran. Contributed a little too much to the crazy vietnam vet stereotype, but not as bad as Rambo. Don't watch it with the kids.
201. The Hustler - A bit slow in the middle. Stars Paul Newman as a slick can't lose pool hustler. All he wants to do is beat Minnesota Fats played by the great Jackie Gleason. In the middle of all of this shows what being a alcoholic and a degenerate gambler. Not an uplifting movie and gets a bit slow. Better than The Color of Money because Jackie Gleason is in it and Tom Cruise isn't. I have a soft spot for all movies with Paul Newman and Jack Lemon in them.
